About

SAM_5723Hello! I’m Carrie. Welcome to Dewey Scrapper.

I’m a librarian at a public library in Chicagoland. Professionally, I’m interested in libraries, library management, community engagement, and professional development. Personally, I’m interested in memory keeping, travel, and learning.

My blog is a place where I’ll explore things I’m interested in, both personally and professionally. I’ve got several recurring series planned. They are:

Friday Five: On the second and fourth Fridays of each month, I’ll post about five things I’m interested in at the moment. The topics might be blog posts I enjoyed, photos I like, books on my to-read list, etc.

Mojo Monday: On Mondays, I’ll post about some crafty project I’m working on. Every Monday? Some Mondays? Most Mondays? We’ll see.

Reviews Revisited: On Sundays, I’ll post past book reviews that I’ve written. In these revisited posts, I’ll expand on the ideas, and add more readers advisory elements to them.

Waiting on Wednesday: On Wednesdays, I’ll post a book title that I can’t wait to get my hands on.

5 Random Facts about Me
1. I love going to flea markets and seeing what treasures I can find.
2. Bright colors make me so happy.
3. I really love coffee.
4. I’m a huge Jimmy Buffett fan (we like to call ourselves Parrotheads).
5. Haunted Mansion is my favorite Disney ride. I might be a little obsessed with it.

How did my blog get it’s name?

It’s a mashup of two of my interests. I’m a librarian at a public library, hence Dewey, and scrapbooking is one of my hobbies, hence Scrapper. Libraries and scrapbooking give you Dewey Scrapper.

You can read more of the nitty gritty in my welcome post.
